03 – Valeria
Architect of Light
The architect of Borgo Feliciana
Valeria was never a woman of chance. She believed in patterns, in structures, in the fine lines that held chaos together. Perhaps it was precisely this ability that led her through the narrow, winding streets of Borgo Feliciana that evening – a city that at first glance seemed confused and unpredictable, but on closer inspection had a hidden system.
It was the spiral that guided their steps. A simple drawing on an old wooden door, but Valeria knew that she wasn’t here by chance. Spirals stood for growth, for a path inwards and outwards at the same time. For a centre that was not yet defined.
She pushed open the door and stepped into the studio.
Two women stood in the centre of the room.
Seraphina, with her dark eyes that penetrated you like ink on parchment. Her skin glowed pale against the dark red of her clothes, and there was something calm, almost timeless, in her demeanour.
Next to her was Liora, who could not stand still – her fingers glided over a sketch, her body moved as if she were dancing to the rhythm of a melody that only she could hear. Her hands were smeared with charcoal, her curls tousled by the wind.
‘You’ve found the sign,’ said Seraphina.
Valeria looked at the two women, the studio, the leaning canvases, the scattered brushes, the unfinished works – a place full of possibilities.
She smiled. “It cast a spell over me. I couldn’t help but follow the sign.”
Liora laughed softly. ‘Then you’re one of us.’
And so Valeria stayed.
The days in the studio became nights in which colours flowed like dreams, in which they painted together, argued, laughed and shared secrets. Seraphina brought depth to her works, Liora brought movement, and Valeria – Valeria gave them direction. She recognised patterns where others saw only chaos. She organised Liora’s unleashed brushstrokes, gave Seraphina’s ideas a structure, made everything flow together until the studio itself became a kind of living work of art.
At one point, Valeria asked: ‘What does the spiral on the door mean?’
Seraphina put her brush aside. “It’s a sign for those who seek. And for those who find.”
Valeria looked at the picture in front of her – three women, side by side, surrounded by light and shadow.
And thought: ‘Now I’ve arrived.’
Outlook:
Borgo Feliciana would not just remain a studio. It would grow. More artists would come, attracted by the sign, by the unspoken invitation. Here, between brushstrokes and dreams, something new would emerge.
An artists’ village.
A home.
